In 2025, Unique marks 20 years in business. And as the fabricator enters its 20th anniversary year, it says it is gearing up to shape a future every bit as impressive as its past. Glass Times discovers more.

Much has changed since 2005.

Society, technology and fenestration solutions. They’ve all evolved over the last two decades. And so too has Unique Window Systems.

From modest beginnings, the fabricator, which remains proudly family-owned, has grown to become a Β£multi-million, multi-award-winning business.

But if you think that’s where its success story ends, think again.

β€œAt Unique, we have a highly active programme of inward investment to help us maximise our use of technology and our levels of efficiency,” says Sunil Patel, Unique’s joint managing director.

β€œThis in turn ensures the continued evolution of our capabilities and offer. It also enables us to offer ongoing benefits to our customers such as short order lead times, competitive prices and consistently high standards of product quality.”

In 2024, this focus on reinvesting back into its success and that of its customer base saw Unique open a brand new, 65,000ft2 PVC-U factory as well as making major changes to its aluminium factory.

In 2025, the dividends of this capital expenditure are set to become truly apparent.

A business with vision

β€œAs we start the new year, Unique is drawing on its recently enhanced production infrastructure to introduce a number of new products,” comments Sunil.

β€œLooking specifically at our aluminium offer, we’ve recently begun fabricating Cortizo Cor Vision sliding patio doors.

β€œThese doors enable maximum daylighting and uninterrupted views thanks to their minimalist profile. With an ultra-slim sightline of just 20mm, they enjoy an almost frameless appearance.”

This almost frameless look is complemented by Cor Vision’s ability to incorporate 90ΒΊ corners without the need for a mullion and by the fact that the rail system can be completely integrated into the floor.

As well as strong aesthetics, Cor Vision doors offer good acoustic insulation, high levels of security and a U-Value of 1.3 w/m2, ensuring they are Part L compliant for existing properties.

The introduction of Cor Vision adds to a number of other Cortizo products fabricated by Unique since November 2023. This includes Cortizo 4700 sliding doors, bi-fold plus doors and casement windows.

Modernising a design classic

Later this month, Unique will also be launching a new aluminium Heritage entrance door.

This modern take on a design classic builds on the timeless and geometric aesthetic appeal of the early 20th century Art Deco and Modernist architectural movements.

β€œOur new aluminium Heritage door doesn’t just reinvent an enduringly popular design,” explains Sunil. β€œIt improves on it.

β€œThe slim frames employed by this type of door are perfectly suited to aluminium which offers a better strength-to-weight ratio compared to steel which has been used traditionally.”

The new Unique Heritage door has sightlines of just 51.7mm, maximising areas of uninterrupted glazing and light transmission.

It is also crafted to match aluminium windows available from Unique and is complemented by a dedicated selection of handles and hardware.

In addition, numerous configurations are available. This includes the option of fan and side lights, enabling the creation of a seamless heritage look across a wide range of door openings, sizes and uses.

Plus, Unique’s new Heritage door delivers functionality as well as form.

Its notable performance characteristics include a U-Value of 1.4 w/m2K meaning it complies with Approved Document Part L for refurbishment projects.

β€œOn top of Cor Vision and our new Heritage door, Unique is set to introduce other new products over the next 12 months,” adds Sunil.

β€œWe’ll be launching a new aluminium entrance door, enhancing our composite doors and further developing our PVC-U product portfolio.”

In the near future, Unique will be announcing how it plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

For now, however one thing seems certain. That the business will mark this major milestone the best way it knows how.

By continuing to grow, develop and evolve.
