Scott Quig, national sales manager at bespoke metal fabricator, Corrivo, talks about the launch of its new aluminium window pods and how installation companies can benefit from adding the product to their armoury.
We have recently added aluminium window pods to our product range, after providing them for a new residential project in Avon Street, Bristol.
For large-scale domestic and commercial buildings, the role that the façade plays in a building’s overall aesthetic cannot be understated. The façade of a building is made up of many things, including the brickwork, cladding and the glass or windows, all which contribute to the overall design and kerb appeal.
Window pods, also known as window surrounds, provide a dramatic visual effect around the windows to enhance a building’s façade. Windows can have a significant effect on the aesthetics of a building, but sometimes they can be overshadowed by other features.
Whether it’s for large residential apartment blocks, commercial buildings or for newbuild housing developments, aluminium window pods allow the windows to really stand out.
At the latest project in Bristol, the window pods are a key design element and they make a huge statement about the luxury flats inside. Manufactured from lightweight aluminium in RAL 7022 umbra grey, they perfectly match the windows for a consistent, high-end aesthetic.
Timing is crucial
Construction sites, especially city centre ones, often don’t have the benefit of extra storage space, so the ability to provide products with short turnaround times is crucial.
Our 48-hour lead time ensured that all the products were delivered for this project on time, which meant the contractor could rely on us to get the products to site the day before or even on the day of installation, reducing the need for storage.
It’s our flexible manufacturing processes that enable us to deliver this service – on time delivery was just as important as the design and manufacture. The window pods are prefabricated at our manufacturing facility in Burton on Trent. Our experienced fabrication team make sure that every product is manufactured to the highest quality to ensure there are no delays on site, helping projects to run as smoothly as possible.
As is often the case on large-scale construction projects, things don’t always go to plan, so choosing a manufacturer that can offer this level of flexibility helps if last minute changes or delays on other parts of the project occur.
Tom Mortlock, construction director at Caxton Facades, who oversaw the Bristol project knows this all too well. He said: “In construction, no matter how hard we try to work with specified lead times and give adequate time before a product is required onsite, we all know things can and often do go wrong.
“When deadlines are fast approaching and failure isn’t an option, we can always count on Corrivo to turn things around and help us find a suitable solution.”
An extra string to your bow
The success of this project and the subsequent client feedback shows the value of choosing a flexible manufacturing partner, but also proves that a variety of projects could benefit from the inclusion of window pods.
They aren’t only suitable for larger projects like the one in Bristol, window pods are also perfect for a range of newbuild housing projects, commercial installations, and refurbishment projects.
For installers, adding window pods to your range will help you add something different to your projects and help you win more business – perhaps even outside of your normal scope of work.
