Lock it in

Glen Butler, sales centre manager at Hoppe (UK), provides an overview of the Arrone security offering.
With Crime Stoppers UK estimating that there is a burglary every 40 seconds in the UK, it is clear to see why home security is a top priority for homeowners.
Despite the long, dark winter nights coming to an end and more daylight hours ahead, it’s not worth the risk of leaving something unlocked. Whether it’s a home, shed, or lock up, it’s vital to keep belongings protected from professional or opportunistic criminals.
And installers can play a key role in educating homeowners about the best products to equip their homes with to help improve security and deter thieves.
Arrone’s two padlock series – the AR85 and the AR90/54 – offer a wider range of styles and functionality.
A brass act
The AR85 range contains three different size brass padlocks – 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm – all with hardened steel shackles. Brass padlocks are resistant to rust making them suitable for high moisture applications and outdoor use. With such versatile applications, brass padlocks are a popular choice for both domestic and commercial use at a cost-effective price point.
The padlocks are available with two different keying options: keyed to differ or keyed alike. Padlocks that are keyed to differ can only be opened by the keys supplied in the box. Keyed alike is ideal for users that need to use several padlocks but don’t want to have multiple keys. Rather than having to switch keys to open each padlock, this keying method allows a single key to be used, saving time and reducing the risk of lost keys.
The future is digital
The AR90/54 padlock can be unlocked using just a fingerprint and responds to recognised prints in less than a second. Up to 20 fingerprints can be stored allowing multiple users to access the same lock.
The zinc housing and steel alloy shackle provide enhanced tamper and corrosion resistance. The padlock can be used indoors and outdoors, making it suitable for securing lockers, sheds and bicycles. With a long-lasting, rechargeable battery, the FingerScan padlock can be used for up to 200 days from a single charge and uses a standard USB power cable to recharge.
Boxed up
If several people need access to a home, the Arrone Key Safe allows homeowners to store keys in a secure and convenient place of their choosing. It’s ideal for family members, holiday lets, tradespeople and carers. The wall-mounted, indoor and outdoor key safe box comes with mounting screws, is easy to set up and just needs a four-digit code (set by the homeowner) to gain access.
Arrone was established in the UK in 1988 and, as a Hoppe brand, benefits from Hoppe’s vast experience in the door and window hardware industry. This year will see Hoppe celebrate 35 years of being in the UK.
