Despite pressure from some big corporations and government to revive empty city centres post pandemic, it seems that a lot of office workers are ‘digging in’ with regards to working from home.

A recent poll, conducted by YouGov, has revealed that nearly two in five people working from home say they will never return to the office.

Carried out in January, the poll showed that only 9% of people have returned to their desks permanently since government advice to work from home was dropped earlier this year, with 26% returning part time.

The report found that 63% were working remotely and 39% said they will work from home for good.

Bad news for all those coffee shops and sandwich bars, and good news (potentially) for the home improvement industry. It seems the shift to remote working, or at least a hybrid model where workers have the flexibility to allocate time between home and office, is here to stay.

And if that’s the case, logic dictates that a growing requirement for more space at home will follow.

One company that’s certainly gearing up for more growth is Morley Glass, which has just invested £750,000 to increase manufacturing capacity.

The upgrades to Morley’s production follow a number of recent investments for the Leeds based company, which now has the ability to manufacturer 6,000 integral blind units every week.
