What would you say are the biggest issues currently facing the industry? The skills gap, the strength of the supply chain, the energy crisis, keeping up with new regulations – and tackling those that fail to comply – mental health and wellbeing are likely to be right at the top of the list for most people.
It’s perhaps not surprising then that all these topics, and more besides, are to be covered at this year’s Glazing Summit, following feedback from the industry on how to shape the agenda for the 2022 conference.
Scheduled for Tuesday, 18 October at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, the Summit will also feature some impressive keynote speakers and will present a vital opportunity for business leaders to learn more about the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

In other news – and it’s good news for a change – the latest Business Pilot Barometer has revealed a big increase in retail sales and leads in August, up 16% and 17% respectively.
According to Business Pilot’s analysis, consumer interest in energy efficient home improvements and a resilient housing market is continuing to drive demand. Read the full report here.
Lastly, as a self-confessed gadget geek, there is a particular news story that caught my eye this week. Eyrise, the specialist manufacturer of dynamic glass, has developed new technology that allows users to interact with a glass façade simply by looking at it.
A camera can capture different facial expressions and then adjust the transparency of the glass accordingly. The thought of staring angrily at people outside my office window – and automatically triggering the glass to become opaque – is very appealing!
Eyrise will be showcasing the technology at Glasstec later this month. For more details click here.
