Hundreds attend Glass Times Epsom Race Day
Hundreds of industry people attended the Glass Times magazine Epsom Race Day last week, the second outing of the year following the Haydock Park event in July.
As ever, it was a brilliant day out, perfectly timed to make the most of the last of the (mostly) sunny weather and a fantastic opportunity to network and catch up with industry colleagues, while enjoying fine dining and the chance to win a few quid on seven feature races.
A big thanks to all the race sponsors, which included The FIT Show, Yale, Emplas, Quickslide, Residence Collection, Rehau and Pilkington UK, and to all the companies that donated so generously to the charity raffle, which raised thousands for the Team Seasoar ahead of their epic, 3,000-mile, trans-Atlantic row later this year.
In fact, there’s still time to sponsor industry veteran, Sam Weber and his team, who are hoping to raise £100,000 in aid of Lyme’s Disease, by following this Just Giving Link.
This year’s Epsom Race Day also featured a new ‘Nixology’ afterparty event, which was organised in conjunction with marketing agency, Nix Collective, and gave race goers the opportunity to extend festivities into the evening. A free, vintage double decker bus was also laid on as transport to Epsom town centre.
The Glass Times magazine Race Days are always hugely popular, and the mood of all those in attendance is usually – and understandably – pretty good, but I noticed a theme of additional optimism from many of those that I had a chance to talk to throughout the day.
It could be too early to tell, it could just be a seasonal boost, or a rise in consumer confidence post general election with more attractive mortgage and lending rates…
Or, after an unsettled start to 2024, could we be on the verge of an upturn in industry fortunes for the rest of the year and into 2025?
Time will tell.
