Green with envy

There is no doubt that the industry will have a greater focus on sustainability as we emerge from Covid.

Thanks to Deceuninck UK’s latest independent consumer research, we’ve already seen compelling evidence that homeowners are prepared to pay more for greener products, specifically those that have a higher recycled content and which have less of an impact on the environment.

But it’s also becoming more important for businesses to demonstrate their sustainability as part of the supply chain – especially in the commercial sector.

As such, organisations are starting to take a look at how efficiently they operate, for instance using LED lighting in the factory and greener, more economical vehicles in their fleet.

Essex based manufacturer, Mumford and Wood, has taken things a step further by achieving Carbon Neutral Organisation Status.

The timber window and door specialist set itself a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2030 and has managed to hit that target eight years ahead of schedule!

It is now aiming to improve its green credentials even further, by working towards Carbon Neutral Plus status. If successful, it will actually be taking more carbon out of the atmosphere than it puts in.

A hugely commendable ambition and one that more companies in the industry should be trying to replicate.
