Aluk hosts Exploration Day

I attended Aluk’s first ever Exploration Day last week, an event that was designed to follow up from high levels of interest generated at the 2025 FIT Show.

For the fabricators and installers that made the trip to Aluk’s impressive Chepstow HQ, it was an opportunity to have an overview of what the aluminium systems house has to offer, but also to take a closer look at its products, visit the R&D and in-house powder coating facilities and – perhaps most importantly – to meet the team behind the brand.

Another highlight of the day was the announcement of a partnership with Clayton Glass, bringing a host of benefits to Aluk customers that includes preferential pricing and free onsite training and technical support.

The team from Clayton had brought along its new support vehicle, nicknamed ‘SASSY’, which has been specially equipped as a mobile showcase for its products and services.

It is the latest example of a growing trend in the industry for companies to bring their brand to their customer base. A couple of years ago, hardware specialist Maco toured Europe with its sophisticated mobile showroom, which was transported via truck to the UK, en route to the 2023 FIT Show.

Brisant Secure has since developed a mobile showroom vehicle, called ‘Ellie’ and in this week’s newsletter you can also read about Schüco’s five week tour of the UK and Ireland in its own, specially equipped van.

Could these mobile assets represent the future of sales, marketing and technical support in the UK fenestration industry? They are certainly a highly effective way to get engage with customers and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more examples on the road soon…

Let’s face it, with the industry currently in the doldrums, according to Veka’s managing director, Neil Evans, the industry needs as many innovative solutions as it can get.
