At the start of this year, I had the chance to speak with Alufold Windows’ managing director, Neal Addison and commercial director, Rhodri John, and we discussed how the aluminium fabricator had evolved since the business (then AluFold Direct) was acquired by Unique Window Systems around six months previously.
A lot of work had been done in a short space of time to relocate to a new factory, introduce a re-brand and new website, rationalise product range and much more besides.
Arguably one of the biggest changes at the business however, had been the decision to introduce a new PVC-U line, at a time when it’s more common to hear about established PVC-U manufacturers expanding their range with aluminium.
Alufold Windows’ investment to incorporate PVC-U production has now been completed, a single supply model that is designed to mitigate the added time, stress and logistics for installers working on projects that would otherwise involve multiple suppliers.
A complete PVC-U production facility has been built within AluFold Windows’ 70,000ft2 factory at Whitebirk Industrial Estate in Blackburn, featuring advanced machinery including a BDM cutting and machining centre capable of processing up to 800 windows per week.
The new line is further supported by multiple quad welders, CNC corner cleaners and CNC beading equipment to ensure consistent quality throughout production, with AluFold’s expert operating team now fully trained to work across both PVC-U and aluminium.
Karl Williams, who has led the integration of PVC-U into AluFold since he joined the business in February, brings 20 years of hands-on experience across production, operations and quality control, having worked in multiple large-scale fabrication environments across the North West.
“I’ve had the opportunity to build PVC-U into AluFold from the outset – the setup, the backing and the way the business is structured,” said Karl. “It’s that solid base that gives our customers the confidence to price, plan and move projects forward without second guessing supply, which is the biggest support we can give them in today’s market.”
