Fuhr has introduced a locking solution for the latest addition to the AluK range, the new Heritage entrance door.

Designed to complement AluK’s popular 58BW ST HI window system and give fabricators a new sales opportunity in new build as well as refurbishment projects, the Heritage entrance door combines slim industrial-inspired styling with modern thermal and security performance.

To support the launch, Fuhr worked closely with AluK to develop a dedicated locking solution tailored to the door’s specific design requirements.

The new lock features a 55mm backset – said to be significantly larger than many comparable products in the market. It also incorporates four hardened steel mushroom locking points, selected not only for compatibility with the door design, but to maximise strength and performance during security testing.

While heritage-style slim sightline systems often present unique design constraints, the Fuhr lock solution achieved PAS 24 certification with no issues, a notable result for this style of locking configuration.

Throughout the development process, Fuhr provided a comprehensive package of technical support, including fit-and-function test samples, 3D STEP files to assist with system integration, and hands-on support during security testing.

Paul Balfe, business development manager at Fuhr UK, said:

“Supporting systems houses with the right locking solution is about far more than simply supplying a lock. It means understanding the system design, anticipating performance requirements and providing technical support throughout development.

“With the AluK Heritage entrance door, we were able to deliver a locking solution that met the visual requirements of the system while also achieving PAS 24 certification. Our wider product range and technical expertise meant we could support the project from concept through to successful testing and launch.”

Russell Yates, managing director at AluK, said:

“The launch of the Heritage single entrance door is all about giving fabricators and specifiers a statement, heritage-inspired solution that delivers on both aesthetics and modern performance requirements.

“Working closely with Fuhr to integrate a dedicated locking solution for the door helped us achieve the crucial PAS24 2022 +A1: 2024 accreditation which means AluK customers can now target new builds and extensions as well as refurbishment projects.”
