Almost half of all aluplast windows currently sold in the UK are foiled. We spoke to its Director of Sales & Marketing Ian Cocken, to get his take on how the colour market will change in 2025.
Undoubtedly for us, colour has been the biggest area of growth within the business in the last 12-months. Not only have our foiled sales continue to climb, but the number of customers who have cited our range of colour and foil options as a significant reason to partner with us has also increased.
For many installers, their access to colour can be a make-or-break factor for whether they win or lose a job. We’re hearing firsthand from our customers that the growth in the heritage market alongside an increase in both new housing and retrofitting, is fuelling a surge in foiled profiles that have the appearance of timber or aluminium, but the energy efficient and low-maintenance benefits of PVC-U.
We only see this demand continuing to increase next year; as consumer confidence and non-essential spending maintains a steady rise, and as homeowners look for new ways to add personality and character to their homes, we are gearing up for what we believe will be a record year of foiled sales.
Meeting demand
At aluplast, we already supply a staggering average of 100,000m of foiled product every single day. This encompasses our range of 10 premium foils, with an overall colour range of 40-plus colour options, available in as little as 20 working days.
To maintain our industry-leading lead times, we have invested in the latest CNC technology which dramatically reduces the time it takes us to process foiled product and lowers our cost, while simultaneously driving up quality. These are all benefits that we pass directly onto our customers.
And we continue to support the growth of our foiling technology through our strategic investment plan that ensures that our coloured options continue to grow, and our capacity remains industry leading.
In fact, we have recently added three brand new foils to our woodec range – our innovative foils that replicate the look and feel of timber windows, with the high-performance benefits of PVC-U. This sits alongside our aludec range of foils which reproduce the texture and appearance of an aluminium profile.
New opportunities
Our woodec and aludec ranges continue to open up new opportunities of growth for our customers, creating a differentiation for aluplast fabricators and installers at the point of sale.
The ranges offer greater flexibility across both traditional and modern projects, using either our Ideal 70 or Ideal 4000 systems. Aludec lends itself perfectly to projects that are looking to emulate the aspirational and contemporary appearance of aluminium, but at a fraction of the price, whilst woodec can create beautiful aesthetics in heritage projects or conservation area installations, which often call for a replication of their original timber window sets.
The foils are specifically designed to complement our expanding profile designs.
For example, we have seen a very successful launch this year of our mechanically joined flush window. Together with a woodec foil and the deep bottom rail, the new window marks a step change in authenticity and gives homeowners the opportunity to confidently replace timber windows while benefiting from improved thermal performance and a lifetime of low maintenance.
New developments incoming
We are always innovating new ways to support our customers through new product development, and the FIT Show in May is the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate this firsthand to the industry.
We’ve got new finishes and colours that we’re going to unveil at the show, which will undoubtedly help our customers to win more work throughout 2025 as the demand for unique and high-quality foils continues to grow.
So, keep your eyes peeled for the exciting reveals as we get closer to the exhibition!
