G17 awards shortlist announced

The G17 Awards shortlisted entries have been announced, with several companies being shortlisted in two or more categories.

Epwin, Mila and Thistle Windows and Conservatories were nominated for three each.

Sharn Samra, Epwin Window Systems’ marketing director, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in so many categories because it highlights the quality of our teams and the work we do at Epwin. We’d also like to congratulate our fellow nominees on their achievements.”

Mila’s managing director Richard Gyde said: “It’s a great achievement to be the only hardware company which has made the shortlist in such competitive categories. Once again, it’s testament to the hard work of the whole team and to our commitment to excellence”

Those nominated in two categories include Astraseal, Double R, Euroglaze, Glassolutions, Glazerite, Customade, Saint-Gobain Glass, Veka, VPS Property Solutions and the Window Company (Contracts).

Astraseal’s Sales and marketing manager Zac Nedimovic said: “As you can imagine, we are absolutely delighted to be finalists in two high-profile G Awards. The two nominations validate our philosophy at Astraseal of putting our customers first at all times and giving them everything they need to succeed – whether that’s through products, services or support.”

Ian Sims, managing director of Double R, said: “Even making it to the finals of these prestigious industry awards, let alone winning, gives third-party recognition to our approach and adds further credibility to the way we run our business. Of course, we hope we’ll take away first prize on the night, but being recognised alongside such well-known names in our industry is an achievement and a testament to our commitment to our customers and the excellent products and service we provide.”

As usual, the current trading conditions and market trends influenced the judges’ choice, with the new product category looking like a straight fight between the conservatory/flat roof extension market and the flush sash heritage market. In a nod to future trends, Yale is the odd one out with its Smart Door Lock.

Made for Trade is shortlisted in the new product award for its Korniche aluminium roof lantern.

MD Bradley Gaunt said: “We are all very proud of everything we have achieved with the Korniche and that it is being recognised by the industry for its ground-breaking design is fantastic news. Most heartening is the positive feedback we continue to receive from the installers and tradesman up and down the country who fit the Lantern, those who have taken a chance on what is a relatively new kid on the block. Having had nothing but praise underpins our belief in the Korniche and that it is a true game-changer in the industry.”

Paul Atkinson, sales and commercial director for Yale, said: “The Yale Conexis L1 Smart Door Lock is revolutionising the residential security market by providing a completely key-free locking solution. It has already received critical acclaim after being awarded Consumer Product of the Year at the National Technology Awards, as well as being ranked number 21 in gadget magazine T3’s ‘101 gadgets you can’t live without’. The lock is leading the way for smart home security solutions within the door industry and making it much more accessible for fabricators and installers.”
