Timber health

Panel Systems has supplied timber-faced insulated panels to the new £15m Eastwood Health centre in Glasgow.

The panel manufacturer supplied over 140m2 of aluminium insulated panels, which were clad with Siberian Larch to the front face. The timber facing was given a special fire resistant coating, for added safety.

The project required panels with protruding aluminium trays that were filled with insulation shaped by Panel Systems using its CNC equipment. The panels were supplied to the glazing contractor and fixed into aluminium windows on site.

Danny Phelan, national sales manager for Panel Systems, said: “The project involved quite intricate shaping of the insulation and panel to meet the architect’s design aspirations.”

Panel Systems has extensive three- and five-axis CNC equipment to manufacture panels to suit a comprehensive range of requirements.

The health centre serves the Eastwood area of East Renfrewshire and houses five existing GP practices and community health and care services, including clinics, podiatry, physiotherapy and childrens’ and mental health. The centre also includes a cafe run as an employability project and serves as a community hub with a variety of spaces for voluntary groups to come together.
