Sea views from the edge

Torquay’s Fenster Fabrications has contributed to a sea-view residential development that’s been shortlisted for multiple awards.

Designed by Truro architects Kast, and located in Downderry on Cornwall’s south coast, Sea Edge House is a modern cliff-edge property with stunning Atlantic views.

The dwelling’s low roof profile allows it to make the most of its spectacular location, without obstructing the views of properties further inland. Entry is gained from the upper level, with an external staircase offering quick access to the garden.

Kast used Fenster’s Uni_Slide sliding doors to allow access onto the dwelling’s 10m south-facing balcony.

Uni_Slide can achieve frame sightlines as slim as 20mm, and a slim central interlock, while being able to support sliding panels of up to 3m high and 2.2m wide. The product can be assembled in a limitless run of units, with each panel capable of holding up to 320kg of glass.

Kast has been shortlisted as Best Self Build Architect or Designer of the Year as a result of its work on the Sea Edge House project.
