School’s finishing touches
Panel Systems has fabricated and supplied colourful Trespa panels to the new Goldthorpe Primary School.
Panel Systems supplied 80m² of Trespa panels in six bright colours: Passion Red, Red Orange, Zinc Yellow, Lime Green, Poplar Blur and Royal Blue to create a unique rainbow design.
The panels were 3mm thick and Panel Systems bonded them to a Styrofoam core, providing a high level of insulation for the building, enhancing its energy efficiency and meeting the architect’s specification for thermal performance.
Panel Systems manufactured the panels for the whole facade of the main school building, supplying the site on call-off and cutting each of the panels to exact sizes using its CNC machining facilities.
The new £1.3 million primary school was built by contractor Robertson Construction and opened in September, as part of an ongoing regeneration programme for Goldthorpe. It is located at a new site close to the original school building, which was built in 1912 and caters for 310 pupils and 26 in nursery.
Trespa panels have a scratch and impact resistant surface that is extremely robust, and has been manufactured to withstand harsh exterior elements such as UV light and wind driven rain.
Danny Phelan, sales manager for Panel Systems, said: “These panels are the epitome of a contemporary, forward-looking educational building and will hopefully inspire pupils for years to come.”
