Wye College, in the heart of Wye village in Kent, has a remarkable history. It was founded in 1447 by Cardinal John Kempe. Originally established to train priests and educate local boys, it later became a renowned agricultural college, part of the University of London and eventually Imperial College.
After closing in 2009, its Grade I and Grade II listed Medieval and Edwardian buildings stood empty for over a decade. They have now been transformed into The Wye College Collection, a development of 50 sensitively restored, unique, luxury residences.
Clement Windows Group was delighted to manufacture and install the new steel windows and doors required for a number of the new homes. Clement’s experience with Listed Buildings was particularly valuable in producing the replacement fenestration. They crafted genuine leaded light windows which were fitted directly to the beautiful stone frames and above these, they installed SMW steel fall back windows that were bottom hung and opened inwards. The steel double door sets were manufactured from W20 steel profiles. Everything was designed to closely match the original fenestration with silicone fronting.
