AluK has updated its BSC94 inline slider with the launch of a brand new, Part L compliant version. Designed to give AluK customers new sales opportunities in both replacement and new build markets, the BSC94 HI is said to have all the proven aesthetic appeal of the original with some new, fabricator friendly features.
There are standard and slim versions of the new AluK BSC94 HI available, with sightlines of either 85mm or just 45mm at the interlock. Both versions feature an upgraded 42mm thermal break, which means the doors can achieve a tested and validated U-Value of 1.4 and a DSER rating of ‘C’ with double glazing.
For AluK customers, switching to the new BSC94 HI is said to be ‘simple and cost-effective’. There is a new, updated outerframe with a symmetrical design which reduces the amount of stockholding required and existing press tools can be used for fabrication with only a small adaptation necessary.
An additional benefit is that the new outerframe requires mechanical jointing only, with just the sash now coming with an option for both crimping and mechanical jointing.
Paul Booth, AluK’s technical director, explained the significance of the launch:
“With sliders undergoing a resurgence in popularity as more and more buyers opt for the expansive glass to frame ratio, our fabricators need a high performing, easy to fabricate solution which ticks all the boxes in terms of compliance and aesthetics.
“The BSC94 has always been one of our most popular mainstream options and this carefully considered upgrade is designed to ensure that it remains so. We haven’t taken any shortcuts on the HI – there is a 42mm thermal break, rather than the 20mm one used in some of our competitors’ sliding doors, and the resulting 1.4 U-Value makes it ideal for refurbs and within the 1.6 limiting value required for new buildings.
“We have also used a new anti-bimetal low lambda strip which allows for varying expansion rates and guarantees smooth operation and easy locking and unlocking even on the hottest days and ensured that the BSC94 can accept 20mm – 31mm double glazed units for maximum flexibility.”
The new AluK BSC94 HI is available in both double and triple track configurations and in panel sizes up to 3,000mm h x 2,000mm w with a maximum panel weight of 400kg. There are single and dual colour options in AluK’s comprehensive range of colours and a choice of matt, metallic and anodised finishes.
