Software and hardware partners

UA Glass recently launched 3mm toughened glass for the production of 10mm thick toughened heritage units.

Owner Neil Tomlinson said: “We are experts in the field of ultra-thin Sashlite IG units – no one else in the UK can deliver a 10mm toughened IG unit incorporating softcoat. This will open up a complete new area of the market both here in the UK and Europe”

The family business, based in Norwich, was established 1997 by Neil and now employs 37 employees at two sites.

The UA Glass product range includes IG units, coloured lead lights, beveled units, specialist IG and special products like splashbacks and ultra-thin units.

The cooperation with Lisec started 2013. UA Glass bought not only a Fit Line for IG units from Lisec, but also invested in software – Lisec GPS.order and GPS.prod for the office.

“Our Sales order processing and optimisation software was a DOS product that was very limited and offered no future development or support,” Neil said. “Lisec supplied a full solution for office administration and production. Lisec software has improved the production flow in the factory greatly – it is unique now. In the office they also see a big improvement in the amount of missing units or missing paperwork.”

UA Glass has expansion plans since strong growth is projected. Steady trading conditions mean it can build for the future and develop and produce their new 10mm toughened heritage unit.

“When choosing a software partner, it’s important to consider long-term business plans and make sure suppliers will be around in the future to maintain and develop systems,” Neil said.
