Premium doors turn heads at Grand Designs

During October’s Grand Designs Live which took place at the NEC, Spitfire Doors in conjunction with manufacturing partner Inotherm showcased 20 of its S-500 Series aluminium entrance doors.

Hefin Richards, general manager at Spitfire Doors, said “At the show, we launched a number of new models including our new split antique oak finish combined with a sleek black handle and black aluminium trim, which proved to be a hugely popular design. Many doors featured fingerprint recognition and LED lights in the handle. Quite a few visitors to our stand brought plans with them and said they were looking for a door with great design and technical features, coupled with high levels of security, which would provide them with a grand entrance. Very few consumers were put off by a £5-8k price tag and many expected our doors to retail at £10k+”.

The S-500 series of doors offers a high level of certifiable security, having passed level RC3, at IFT Rosenheim in Germany and PAS24 at BSI in the UK. This guaranteed level of security coupled with exceptional thermal performance, where doors can be manufactured to achieve U-values as low as 0.7 W/m2K creates a compelling offer, the company said.

“Spitfire Doors was established three years ago and we now have 30 design partners across the UK and Ireland, many with S-500 doors on display, plus a new showroom in our Macclesfield head office,” Hefin said. “In March 2019, we will also have a permanent display stand at The Building Centre, off Tottenham Court Road in London. As early movers in the aluminium entrance door market, we are starting to disrupt the composite door market, as consumers and trade partners alike see the benefits of trading up to a premium quality door, designed to easily last 20 years.”
