Spitfire Doors has reported an increase in demand for over-sized front doors and says that consumers are looking for a solution that creates a dramatic, large-scale entrance to give their homes a truly luxurious feel.

Whilst rising labour and material costs, coupled with cautious homeowner spending, are putting pressure on margins, Spitfire says that the first quarter of 2026 has delivered ‘reassuringly solid’ figures.

Spitfire’s pivot doors are manufactured from aluminium, allowing the doors to be made in sizes up to 2m wide and up to 4m high, without compromising on stability. There are a wide range of designer finishes to choose from, such as Corten, concrete and wood effects, with a show-stopping black glass finish being the most popular, according to Spitfire.

The door sash is 113mm thick and the locking systems allow the doors to meet both RC3 and PAS 24 levels of security, ensuring stability and safety.

There are 39 contemporary and traditional designs to choose from and LED lights can be incorporated within recessed handles to create a high-end, architectural look that commands strong selling prices.

Feedback from Spitfire Doors’ partners reveals that once installers have gained some experience from fitting pivot doors, teams can complete jobs in less time than expected. Shorter installation times in turn reduce labour costs and can offer better financial margins for installers. For trade professionals, they represent an opportunity to maximise profitability while meeting growing demand for premium entrances.

Most of the pivot doors sold by Spitfire Doors now feature biometric fingerprint access, giving installers a strong selling point in smart security and convenience. The tried and tested Navkom system is said to be simple to install on site and highly secure, allowing users to unlock their door with a code or fingerprint, while the intuitive mobile app allows access management and entry tracking from anywhere in the world.
