PAS 24 tested

Smart Architectural Aluminium has introduced a PAS 24 option to its auto-slide Smart Wall door system.

Featuring standard and fire escape door variants, the new auto-slide door is the first in the UK to be fully tested to the latest PAS 24 standards, the company said.

Meeting the requirements of BS EN 16005, the door is designed for use in both light commercial applications and public buildings such as schools, hospitals and leisure centres, and is available in both single and double door configurations.

With the correct gearing set-up, the system is also suitable as a fire escape door.

Kevin Cole, Smart’s senior project engineer, said: “In developing the new door, our technical team worked closely with access control hardware-specialist Dormakaba, bringing the combined strength and experience of our two businesses together to create an elegant, high quality and high-performance entrance door solution.

“Having elected to use the Dormakaba ES200 sliding door operator system, our team undertook some re-design work of the existing Smart Wall door system to ensure that the auto-slide product delivers the same demanding performance and aesthetic requirements as the rest of the system, including the achievement of the new PAS 24 standards.”

The door is available in a wide range of colour options, including dual colour, from Smart’s range of standard and non-standard finishes and, in line with all products in the Smart Wall range, the profiles of the new auto-slide door feature polyamide barriers to maximise thermal performance. The product also complies with the latest requirements of Document L for thermal transmittance.
