Manufacturing innovation award

The team behind Synseal’s WarmCore has won an award for innovation in advanced manufacturing.

The recent Made in the Midlands Award celebrated the most ambitious and innovative manufacturing companies operating in the Midlands.

Synseal Group came away the winner in the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation category recognised for its WarmCore technology. Highlighted features included the thermal core, the cam lock system that allows for easy corner jointing, and the composite structure enabling dual colour in the same lead times as standard.

Synseal was up against five other manufacturing companies including 920Engineering, which was highly commended, and Mereway Kitchens.

David Wigley, head of marketing at Synseal, who collected the award on the night, said: “It’s a real testament to the hard work that the WarmCore team has put in to creating a high performance product that our customers love.”

Products and customer services director Steve Brown, whose team designed the WarmCore range, said: “We are immensely proud of the huge success WarmCore has had over the past 18 months since we first introduced the folding sliding door system. Since then we have also launched the window system including flush sash, tilt and turn, and the new slim vent option, as well as a fixed roof light and the new inline patio system landing this summer.

“All our WarmCore products are designed in-house by our research and development team who have decades of experience in the design of high performance products. No-one else on the market has a product quite like WarmCore, which competes aesthetically in the aluminium market while offering some of the best thermal benefits of PVCU.”

Synseal has also been awarded a long service accolade by BSI (British Standards Institution) in recognition of 20 years of excellence in PVCU extrusion.

BSI’s certification manager for fenestration Lorraine Balch presented Synseal staff with the award at the FIT Show along with 20 BSI Kitemark certifications spanning the group’s product range including PVCU and IGU products, along with an additional certificate recognising quality management.

Continuous improvement director Steve Hill said: “These certifications give our customers confidence that all the profile they buy from us is Kitemarked and therefore meets the recommended quality standards and consistency in manufacture and performance.”
