Ultraframe has launched a new brick slip rails system for the hup! building system, which is said to be indistinguishable from a real brick wall and is designed to save time on site.

Installers can use any standard metric brick slip of approximately 20mm thickness, choose from 28 shades that are available via www.hupbrickslips.co.uk, or take advantage of the brick matching service that is available for non-standard bricks.

According to Ultraframe, the innovative brick slip rail system is nearly twice as fast as glueing brick slips to a board.

Ultraframe marketing director, Alex Hewitt, said: “Feedback from homeowners was that they wanted their extensions to be in real brick but our customers told us that using brick slips to deliver this aesthetic was very time consuming.

“Our R&D team set to work to develop a system where the bricks can be inserted rapidly rather than being glued individually, and the hup! brick slip rail system was born. We are delighted with the solution we have developed – it offers beautiful aesthetics that are a higher quality alternative to brick mesh along with time-saving benefits, as it is nearly twice as fast as applying brick slips onto a board.”

Installation is ‘fast and simple’ with carrier panels which stack on top of each other affixed to the wall. Once the panels are fixed, the brick slips are inserted by pushing them into tabs which grip them in place.

This simple process is repeated to form a brick wall pattern using a 10mm spacer between bricks. Installers can then point the wall into deep authentic mortar gaps. Ultraframe recommends using any lime-based mortar which can be purchased from hupbrickslips.co.uk.

The mortar engulfs the deformable tabs, fixing them in place and adhering to the brick slip to create an extremely strong and firm surface.

One company who has experienced the new brick slip rails system already on a hup! build is Yorkshire Warm Roofs of Barnsley. The company is said to have been a huge advocate for hup! since it launched and has completed numerous home extensions and conservatory transformations using the system.

Director, James Whitney, said: “The new hup! brick slip rail system is a fantastic addition to hup!. It’s really simple, fast, and usable – anyone could use it without a problem and it looks completely authentic.

“For us, this is the perfect solution for homeowners wanting a brick finish on their hup! extension.”

Alex Hewitt concluded: “hup! is all about bringing speed and simplicity to a site and the new brick slip rail system builds on this ethos. We are sure that our customers will appreciate both the finish and the simplicity of installation – even the corners are simple to do!

“As the brick slips are applied mechanically rather than by adhesive, the fix is much more secure and long-lasting, so much so that there is a 60-year life expectancy on the product which offers tremendous peace of mind to homeowners.”
