Glazing Vision is a premium manufacturer of precision-engineered rooflights.Β It is responsible for a range of innovative rooflights, with its first being the Flushglaze fixed rooflight, which remains a firm favourite with installers more than 20 years after its launch, acquiring accreditation from BBA, Secured By Design, LPCB and more, along the way.
With offices in the UK and USA and operations throughout Europe and Australia, its rooflights can be found on rooftops across the globe. Established in 1994 by sole trader, Hugh Callacher, today, the business employs more than 100 people worldwide and is headed by group managing director, Jon Shooter.
Local representation
As an international business, local representation is important, for strategic and operational reasons. Thatβs why, in 2010, Glazing Vision joined The Rooflight Association (RA) β a trade association representing the UKβs rooflight industry.
βWe became a member of The Rooflight Association to have a voice in the industry and to help drive the rooflight industry forward.Β Plus, early access to proposed and upcoming legislative and regulatory changes helps us stay ahead of the game,β says Glazing Visionβs marketing executive, Kayleigh Shooter.
After 15 yearsβ membership, Glazing Vision is well aware of the benefits of being a Rooflight Association member. βWe appreciate the technical support,β continues Kayleigh. βThrough The RAβs technical committee, we can access some of the countryβs best rooflight technicians and professionals, each with their own area of expertise.
βThe market insight is invaluable too, as is awareness of any changes, whether thatβs building regulations or health and safety, etc. This knowledge feeds into our business strategy, marketing, communications, and beyond.β
Board presence
The Glazing Vision leadership team holds an enviable position with board presence at both The Rooflight Association and Europeβs trade association for daylighting, natural ventilation and smoke/heat exhaust systems, Eurolux.
A former RA chairman, today, Jon Shooter is marketing committee chair and Construction Products Association (CPA) representative for The RA. Compliance director, Jeremy Dunn, is on the RAβs technical committee. He also chairs the BSI Committee B/542/8 and is a member of a CEN working group and CPR Aquis sub-group 4 at the European Commission.
These positions are advantageous, providing Glazing Vision with extraordinary insight and the power to influence change.Β βJon and Jeremy like being involved in the decision-making, both here and in Europe,β continues Kayleigh. βThey are helping to shape the future of the rooflight industry and theyβre proud of that. Together, they have more than five decadesβ industry experience and itβs satisfying to know that others will benefit from this.β
Help drive change
The Rooflight Association welcomes rooflight installers, specifiers, distributors and other rooflight-related businesses and individuals, alongside rooflight manufacturers.
Glazing Visionβs group marketing director, Jon Shooter, would like to see more companies from sectors across the rooflight industry join to gain different perspectives and promote good practice throughout the industry: βIt would be good to see more companies join to help drive change. We all need to work to the same high standards, but unfortunately, at the moment, this isnβt the case.
βSome companies are working outside of the regulations, and this results in sub-standard products and installations. Thatβs why we are encouraging installers, fabricators, manufacturers, and everyone related to the rooflight industry to join The RA.Β As a member, you can help change the game!β
Quality and competence
Only those who meet the stringent criteria become a member of The Rooflight Association. This is a strong assurance of quality, competence and compliance. Members are committed to good practices in specification, installation and safety, which is backed by the associationβs audit process.
With stricter competence requirements in a competitive market, can you afford not to be a member of The Rooflight Association?Β Visit www.rooflightassociation.org for details on how to apply.
