A Plus Aluminium serves three markets – residential, installer and commercial. This cross section of experience coupled with almost 40 years heritage means A Plus is an attractive proposition for those looking to partner with an expert aluminium trade fabricator
Wedgwood Homes is one such company. The award-winning developer is renowned for delivering high-quality, high-specification luxury homes in the South East. With in-house designers, architects and project managers, attention to detail flows through every home. To achieve these standards, they demand exceptional products and service from their suppliers, and A Plus have quickly proven themselves a valuable supply chain partner.
“They [A Plus Aluminium] give us greater flexibility,” says Wedgewood Homes. “They can deliver a variety of window shapes and sizes, and the products are a good fit for our premium homes. Practically, the quotes are thorough with detailed description and images of each product, and customer service have been easy to contact if required.”
Supplying exclusive developments
Recently, A Plus Aluminium has supported Wedgewood Homes on two developments in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Verve, Spire Court is an elegant collection of nine apartments set in a central location and Moatenden comprises five luxury family homes set around a landscaped courtyard garden and borders the Kentish Green Belt.
Energy matters
“We believe people are thinking about ways to save money or be more energy efficient and this is influencing our design and specification,” continues Wedgewood Homes. “We are developing the thermal envelope to help with the energy costs of the property, for example, which includes double glazing and trickle vents in the windows. We worked with A Plus Aluminium to select windows and doors which deliver superior performance and enhance the properties.”
A Plus manufactured 10 PlusFold high performance bi-folding doors for the properties at Moatenden, and 12 Dualframe 75 Si casement windows, 48 Dualframe Si windows, two PlusFold bi-folding doors and DualFrame French doors, one aluminium Lymington Smart entrance door and one ST11 entrance door screen for the apartments at Spire Court.
Great selling point
“All the systems are user-friendly,” continues Wedgewood. “We particularly like the PlusFold bi-folding doors. The potential to create a big open space is a great selling point. We have a 4,780mm wide bi-fold door on the penthouse at Spire Court and it works so well with the balcony area, a space which wouldn’t have looked the same with a smaller door installed. The level access is also an advantage, the flow between the indoor floor to outdoors is seamless.”
Feature bi-folds
At Moatenden, Wedgewood Homes was keen to make the most of opening up the living space to the garden. “We have large openings into the gardens, and we wanted this to be a distinct feature. Sliding or French doors in this instance wouldn’t deliver the finish or lifestyle we wish to create, with side panels or glass still in position when the door is open. We like how bi-folds open up the living areas and the panels fold and slide neatly to the side. They are perfect for our premium homes, maximising outdoor living.”
Colour choice
Colour plays a vital role in the Spire Court scheme. “The external aesthetic is especially improved by the fact that the various aluminium windows and doors are completed in the same profile and colour, internally and externally.”
For the eight luxury two-bed apartments and one three-bed penthouse Wedgewood Homes chose Concrete Grey RAL 7023M.
