Emmegi (UK) offers real time machine monitoring

Customers ordering new CNCs or twin head saws from Emmegi (UK) can now track the productivity, operational efficiency and energy consumption of their machines in real time – thanks to the addition of new Voilàp Connect software.
Voilàp Connect is a cloud-based IoT platform developed by the team at Emmegi’s parent company Voilap, a specialist in designing and building smart systems for data acquisition and management of industrial and urban environments. It uses a secure, encrypted network to give users access to all their machine-generated data – from non-conformities and alarms to delays and downtime at the touch of a button.
With Connect equipped machines, operators and production managers can log onto their Connect Dashboard from any location and see all the relevant information at a glance. They can then use that to optimise their machine workflows and utilisation planning, streamline their operation and identify and resolve any problems.
The scope of Connect can be as broad or as narrow as users choose. They get a clear overview of the different active jobs on the machine, the last order processed and its performance value if they just need to plan or reschedule. But, if they want more detailed analysis, they can see information on the number of workpieces being produced per hour or per day to assess productivity and identify any delays or inefficiencies.
They can also track energy consumption and identify waste and really drill down to analyse torque, current and frequency values and any variations, and monitor temperature, flow rate and pressure of compressed air regulation system and saturation status of the filter.

According to Emmegi, a particularly useful aspect of the software is that it monitors any unexpected machine downtime, identifies exactly what happened before the downtime, and lets users see a log of all the machine alarms so that they can take action to make sure it doesn’t happen again. It also gives detailed information on each machine component to predict maintenance needs and help to optimise maintenance schedules.
Ian Latimer, managing director of Emmegi (UK) commented: “The IoT has the power to take operational efficiency to the next level. The insight that Connect users can get from the software has the potential to improve even the most efficient production environments. We are including it as standard on most of our saws and CNCs now, so we’re encouraging customers to make the most of it if they can.”
