Delivering new standards

Quickslide built on its heritage window offer last year with the introduction of the Graf SL4FF to its manufacturing facility.

Installed in the summer, chairman Adrian Barraclough said that its investment in the seamless welding technology from the FOM-GS Group, supported the company in increasing standards of product quality.

“Performance has always been important but with our focus on supply into heritage markets means that the appearance and quality of finish is key for us and our customers,” Adrian said. “The Graf SL4FF, has been instrumental in allowing us to build on our offer, delivering an exceptional aesthetic and at volume.”

Supplied exclusively in the UK by the Promac Group, the SL4FF pre-cleans then zip welds the corner joint while controlling the flow of sprue, delivering a seamless but incredibly strong corner joint.

It employs an on-board control system and CAD Scan software, which maps the profile chamber configuration directly from a standard photocopier scanner. This allows the operator to work with actual dimensions rather than profile-related drawings bringing a new level of accuracy and finish perfection.

“The quality that we’re getting on joints is really impressive, it’s barely visible and in an increasingly high-end market the quality stands out, particularly in retail markets,” Adrian said.

According to Promac, the SL4FF not only delivers a better quality product but can also deliver a twofold increase in productivity, compared to other traditional manufacturing processes; the SL4 FF eliminates the need for cooling tables and corner cleaning, and has a space-saving footprint of just 25m2.

“It [the SL4FF], does everything in just three or four minutes per frame, which means that we can fabricate at volume but also offer incredible finish and quality,” Adrian said.

The machinery platform is self-contained with installed extraction and automatic heater plate cleaning, and the SL4 FF is equipped with on board self-diagnostic software that can be accessed via remote support.

“If you’re manufacturing or selling a foiled product, you have to deliver on finish,” Adrian said. “It’s ultimately why someone has agreed to pay a premium, so it has to be there.

“The SL4FF allows us to manufacture rapidly and at volume, while guaranteeing an exceptional finish, and stand-out product quality. Given the direction of the market, that’s a clear commercial advantage for us and our customers.”
