£100k day

Rapierstar has exceeded more than £100,000 of dispatches in a single day for the first time.

David Furness, group managing director, said: “When you consider the tiny unit price of a screw, £100,000 worth of screws is a huge volume to sell and dispatch in just one day. It’s a milestone we’ve reached ahead of our target and reflects what we are seeing in the market, with fabricators seeking to improve efficiency with a supply chain they can depend on.”

Rapierstar, which supplies 80% of fabricators, is on track for sales growth of 25% this year. The company has invested more than £5 million in increased stockholding and in the infrastructure of its 100,000ft2 Cheshire warehouse and distribution centre, which holds a stock of more than one billion fasteners.

“Your supply chain is only as strong as the weakest link, so we’ve set ourselves up to ensure fastener supply is not the cause of production delays or – even worse – customers having to substitute the correct fasteners for ones that are unsuitable and could be detrimental to the finished window or a door’s integrity,” David said. “The fact that we’re now delivering orders in full, error free, on more than 99.4% of occasions demonstrates the success of our approach.”
