TuffX’s Glow heated glass sets the scene for a cosy Christmas

Tuffx’s innovative Glow heated glass takes centre stage on this year’s festive Glass Times front cover, inviting readers to ‘Experience a Truly Cosy Christmas’.

Taking bi-folds into a new era of multifunctionality, Glow is built around a sealed unit layered with an intelligent, invisible conductive coating that converts electrical power into radiant heat.

Using advanced infrared heating and complete thermostat control, Glow transforms aluminium bi-fold door units and roof infill panels into powerful, invisible heat sources.

Installed just like standard bi-fold doors and fully compliant with EN 12150 and EN 1279, Glow delivers 35-40°C radiant warmth with U-values as low as 0.7 W/m²K, giving fabricators a high-performance, plug-in alternative to traditional radiators.

For extensions, garden rooms and conservatories, TuffX claims that Glow provides primary heating at around 9p per hour per bi-fold panel, while reducing condensation, keeping sightlines clear and freeing customers from bulky wall-hung heat emitters. A typical three-door configuration operating for five hours daily would cost approximately £1.35 (based on an electricity rate of 25p/kWh), according to TuffX.

Glow also reduces condensation, inhibits mould growth and maintains clear views. Plus, with no routine maintenance and only a simple electrician connection to 240v, Glow elevates functional glass and unlocks new layout possibilities, all while looking identical to standard bi-fold doors and glazing.
