Staffordshire-based windows and doors firm, Target Windows has more than quintupled its £500 fundraising goal for friend and MND sufferer, Anthony Lockley.
Through ongoing fundraising efforts during the first half of this year, including conquering a mountain climb in July, the company has donated a cheque for £2,769.
The money raised is to support Anthony, a friend of directors Jane Basnett and Mick Tune, after a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, and will go towards giving the family a better quality of life, as well as funding much-needed physiotherapy aids, equipment, care and house adaptations as they learn to live with MND.
Money was collected via a dedicated Just Giving page and through donations to the company’s three sites – showrooms based at Stone and Uttoxeter and HQ based at Meir Heath.
In addition to the money raised, the company has also installed a new front door at Anthony’s family home, which has an approved low access threshold making life much easier for the family getting in and out of the house. This door was very kindly donated by Central Window Systems, Target’s main supplier of windows and doors.
Mick Tune of Target Windows said: “We have known Anthony and his family for a long time. He is a much-loved member of the community and a truly decent stand-up guy, so to learn the news that he has developed this scary and unforgiving condition was heart-breaking. He has worked hard all his life to bring up his family of two daughters and a wonderful son who has Down syndrome. All he’s ever done is work hard to give them a start in life.
“We wanted to try and ease the pressures that a life-changing diagnosis like this can bring and we’re incredibly humbled by the response from the community in supporting the cause. The generosity of our customers, staff, colleagues, friends and the local community has been overwhelming especially during such difficult times. It just goes to show once again that we are and always will be a community that cares.”
The firm has now closed the Just Giving page, but you are still able to donate to Anthony by visiting one of Target Window’s showrooms based in Stone and Uttoxeter.
