SupaLite roof passes toughest compliance test yet

Following what is said to have been one of the most rigorous Building Control assessments carried out in recent years, the SupaLite Tiled Roof System has successfully passed East Devon Building Control’s intensive inspection process.
According to SupaLite, this reflects not only the strength of the product, but also the company’s commitment to supporting installers through even the most complex regulatory challenges.
Achieving compliance
The case spanned approximately six months, involving close collaboration between East Devon Building Control, the installer, and SupaLite’s in-house technical department.
This assessment required comprehensive evidence across multiple areas of regulatory compliance – including Parts A (Structure), B (Fire Safety), and C (Site Preparation and Moisture Resistance).
Load calculations, wind and snow simulations, condensation risk analysis, and fire performance documentation formed just part of the submission. SupaLite’s CAD design technician produced detailed structural modelling, while the company’s technical manager coordinated the technical responses required to satisfy every query.
The Building Control officer examined each element of the system, from the performance of the insulation to load paths and collapse-prevention modelling, ensuring the installation matched SupaLite’s exacting standards.
After a comprehensive review, the Building Control officer confirmed that the SupaLite roof met all regulatory requirements and authorised the completion certificate.
Alan Watters, technical director, SupaLite Tiled Roof Systems, commented: “This project put the SupaLite system through one of the most thorough compliance reviews we’ve ever experienced. The fact that it passed under such close scrutiny only reinforces what we’ve known all along – our system isn’t just built for performance; it’s built for compliance. This is what sets SupaLite apart in an industry where not every system meets Building Regulations.”
Supporting installers
For many installers, dealing with Building Control can be a prolonged and often challenging experience especially for conservatory roof replacements, where system choice plays a crucial role in compliance outcomes.
Through the entire six-month process, SupaLite’s technical team worked side-by-side with the installer, supplying every required document, simulation and calculation. This hands-on support ensured the installation exceeded expectations and aligned seamlessly with Building Control requirements.
For installers, this level of partnership is becoming increasingly valuable. SupaLite says that its experts are dedicated to helping installers grow their business with confidence, knowing they’re backed by a system, and a supplier, they can trust.
A proven system
The SupaLite Tiled Roof System is a modular, hybrid roof solution engineered for lightweight yet durable conservatory roof applications. It consists of key structural components including patented eaves beams, rafter beams, wall plates, and hip beams.
As a tried, tested, and trusted system, the design analysis considers combined dead, live, wind, and snow loads to verify safe performance under all applied loading conditions. Structural loads are efficiently transferred from the rafters and hips into the eaves beams, then to the supporting walls and fixed points – ensuring complete stability.
Every component is mechanically fixed using rigorously tested cleats, brackets, and screws, maintaining both lateral and vertical restraint throughout the structure. Following extensive testing, the SupaLite Roof System demonstrates exceptional structural performance, thermal efficiency, and resistance to disproportionate collapse.
In a market where many competitors – particularly clad over installers – continue to install systems that don’t meet Building Regulations, or fall short of required U-values, SupaLite adds that this Building Control success reinforces what sets it apart, by designing and manufacturing systems for compliance from day one.
