Shelforce nominated for diversity and inclusion award

Birmingham window and door manufacturer, Shelforce, and Birmingham City Council have been nominated for the MJ Achievement Awards ‘Innovation in Building Diversity and Inclusion’ award.

Shelforce, a business unit within Birmingham Council’s City Housing, specialises in providing PVC-U windows and doors, including fire doors, to local authority building projects, including social housing, and new builds.

As a disabled workforce hub at Birmingham City Council, Shelforce is leading the way in inclusivity when it comes to employment opportunities in the glazing industry, with 75% of its workforce disabled.

Investing in the diversity of its workforce, Shelforce is said to have a strong staff development programme and high levels of engagement which has led to increased performance and record employee retention levels.

The MJ Achievement Awards recognise the best local government services and personnel. Shelforce has been shortlisted as one of five finalists and will now face the second stage of the judging process and the opportunity to present to the judging panel. The winner will then be announced at a gala ceremony on Friday, June 24 at the Park Plaza Westminster.
