Eurocell has supplied its Logik PVC-U window system to support a project that forms part of a significant city-centre regeneration scheme in Hull.
Fabricated and installed by EYG Commercial, the project involved a large-scale glazing replacement on a four-storey former office building, which is being converted into high-quality residential apartments by specialist developer Duro Construct.
Duro Construct specialises in this type of conversion, typically converting former office and commercial properties into modern residential developments to help meet the growing demand for high-quality housing in urban areas across Yorkshire and the Midlands.
As part of the scheme, 240 timber windows were removed and replaced with the Eurocell Logik system in a Rosewood finish, delivering a like-for-like appearance in keeping with the building’s original character, while significantly improving thermal efficiency, durability and security.
The system is designed to reduce heat loss, improve acoustic performance, and lower energy consumption for future residents, while also reducing long-term maintenance requirements for property owners.
Alongside the window replacement programme, the project also included new aluminium arched entrances and curtain walling elements, enhancing the building’s facade at the junction of Alfred Gelder Street and Gandhi Way in Hull’s Old Town.
A commitment to sustainability was embedded throughout the project, with more than 200 removed timber windows recycled as part of wider efforts to minimise waste. In addition, the installation was completed without the use of external scaffolding, with EYG Commercial’s specialist teams carrying out the works from inside the building using harness systems, helping to reduce disruption in the busy city centre location while also developing cost efficiencies for the client.
