Deceuninck has upgraded its existing water chilling system in its manufacturing facility in Calne, and says it has reduced its carbon output by 550 cubic metres per year in the process.

The two new water chillers were installed in March 2024, and were chosen for their energy efficiency.

Darren Woodcock, operations director, Deceuninck, said: “Our current energy usage for chilling our water with our new system is 50% less than it was 12 months ago.

“Our old system was outdated so we wanted to replace it with a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly alternative, that reduced the amount of carbon used.

“We only had 60mm of buffer space to slot the new chillers into. They went in millimeter perfect, and there was no operational disruption whatsoever.”

Deceuninck is committed to the Science Based Targets (SBTi) programme, with a headline pledge to cut the CO2 emissions from its own operations (Scope 1&2) by 60% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline.

As well as the water cooler upgrade to reduce carbon emissions in the Calne factory, the systems house has also installed 2,200 solar panels on the roof, which generates 895,762 kWh of clean energy a year, and saves almost half a million tons of CO2.

And to help fabricators communicate their own green credentials, Deceuninck launched the G23-Award Winning Sustainability Marketing Toolkit.

Available through the Deceuninck Customer Portal, the Toolkit for fabricators includes headline positional statements drawing on Deceuninck’s commitments under Science Based Targets; an own-branded-printable sustainability brochure; plug-and-play website content; e-shots; social media assets; presenter decks; and video content.

For installers, Deceuninck has created the same assets but with distinct b2c messaging aimed at the homeowner. This has been supplemented with additional marketing collateral specific to installers including door-drop leaflets; sustainability logos; showroom pull-up banners, wall decals; and flyers.
