Company of the year

Saint-Gobain Glass came top in two categories at the Glass Focus Awards 2017.

The business was named Company of the Year at the award ceremony for its commitment to the continued improvement in its production facility, focus on sustainability in reducing environmental impacts, and enhancing the wellbeing of its staff.

Reducing energy consumption of its furnace, making healthier meals and snacks available on site, and recently delivering its first year with zero tonnes of waste going to landfill are just some of the initiative that led judges to crown Saint-Gobain winner of the top accolade.

Meanwhile, electrical maintenance apprentice Samantha Coolledge beat off stiff competition to take home the Apprentice of the Year award, with judges particularly impressed by her leadership and project management skills.

Judges also praised Samantha for her positivity and ability to be proactive in every task she undertakes.

The Glass Focus Awards aim to showcase the outstanding breadth and quality of achievement in the glass industry and are organised by British Glass.
