Sherborne secures trademark

Sherborne Windows has secured a trademark on its name following some digital detective work from marketing partner, Purplex.
The agency discovered that competitors were bidding on Google ads using the company’s name, leaving Sherborne unable to defend its brand.
Following a detailed SEO analysis, Purplex recommended that the Hampshire-based company invest in trademark protection to close the loophole. The new status now allows the business to safeguard a brand built over more than 30 years and strengthen its position in a competitive market.
Claire Long, marketing director at Sherborne Windows, said: “Our brand is central to everything we do. We have invested decades into building a reputation for quality and customer care, so it was vital to protect it. Working with Purplex helped us take the right step at the right time.”
Trademarks are increasingly important in the home improvement sector, where established names can be targeted by competitors looking to capture online traffic. By securing formal protection, Sherborne Windows has ensured it can challenge misuse and maintain the clarity of its brand in search results and advertising.
The business also works hard to keep customers informed through its website (www.sherbornewindows.co.uk) by adding extra pages on finance updates, product maintenance guides and close collaboration with suppliers.
The decision to protect its name also highlights the effectiveness of the long-standing relationship between Sherborne Windows and Purplex. Sherborne has consistently embraced collaboration, and this shared approach has enabled both parties to anticipate challenges, protect the brand and deliver measurable growth online.
Founded in the early 1990s by Chris Long, Sherborne Windows has grown from a family-run company into a improvement specialist operating across Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and South-West London. Guided by its ‘three C’s’ ethos of communication, cooperation and consideration, the business works hard to keep customers informed through finance updates, product maintenance guides and close collaboration with suppliers.
Andrew Scott, founder and MD of Purplex, said: “Sherborne Windows is a business that understands the importance of protecting its reputation and acting on good advice. Securing the trademark is a smart move that strengthens the brand and safeguards the company’s future.”
The move marks another step in a partnership that is said to have already delivered strong results, including a 135% increase in organic traffic and a 90% conversion rate through Purplex’s digital strategy.
