Atlas Aluminium, one of the UK’s largest fabricators of aluminium windows, bi-fold and sliding doors and home of the Atlas Roof product range, welcomed Dr Simon Opher, Member of Parliament for Stroud, to its manufacturing facility in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire recently.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase operations, meet Atlas Aluminium team members, and discuss the importance of supporting local manufacturing and sustainable innovation in the aluminium fenestration sector, plus the realities facing manufacturers in the current economic climate.
A follow-up discussion with staff offered the chance to reflect on broader sector challenges and share perspectives from the shop floor. This included a discussion on the recent rise in Employers’ National Insurance contributions and its disproportionate impact on UK-based companies.
According to Atlas Aluminium, Dr Opher was ‘very positive’ throughout his visit and is said to have praised the attitude and commitment of all the staff he met.
“We were delighted to host Dr Simon Opher and share the work we’re doing to deliver high-quality aluminium window, door and glazed roof products to our customers across the UK,” said Jamie Newall, CEO at Atlas Aluminium.
“We are very proud of our experienced workforce and the work we have done since December to give them the support they need to flourish. It’s encouraging to see local leaders take an active interest in our industry, workforce, and future growth.”
Atlas Aluminium, formerly Real Aluminium, was rescued from the Administration of the Customade Group in December 2024, saving nearly 200 local jobs.
