When less is more
Jody Vincent, sales director at Emplas discusses the strategy underpinning its new aluminium window offer from Aluk.
Emplas has launched a ramped-up aluminium offer from Aluk, building on the F82 Luminia Bi-fold, which it launched in 2019.
This includes the addition of the 58BD residential and French door system, which includes a flush option; and the BSC94 Inline Sliding Patio.
It also includes the 58BW ST, slim sightline aluminium window, something which delivers increased flexibility in a single system.
It’s designed to replicate steel-type windows, and as a replacement for them, but its appeal in residential markets is also huge, because of the minimalistic sightlines that it offers.
With different sashes you get either a heritage replacement or contemporary window in a single system, so it gives us and our customers masses of flexibility.
Featuring a polyamide thermal break, glazing units provide a high level of thermal efficiency, while windows can also be manufactured to meet an enhanced PAS24 security and the Secured by Design standard.
Flat, chamfered or Ovolo details make the system flexible for use in traditional or contemporary developments. It is available in a wide range of standard colours as well as any RAL colour, plus dual colour options, which provides further design flexibility.
If you look at the innovation in PVCU, in the design of products like for example Optima and particularly Optima Flush, and then combine that with foiling options, including aluminium-type finishes, you can create a very contemporary window which, for a lot of people, will be absolutely right for their home or project.
There are, however, specific projects, including heritage-type replacements or where the architect or the end-user want minimal sightlines, where PVCU may be excluded, so bringing in the 58BW but in the slimmer ST option makes sense: we and our customers can cover all bases.
Emplas has also added Aluk’s Flush variant of the 58BW to its range. In common with the ST it has an ultra-slim 46mm sash which, combined with a flush finish, has been developed to deliver a clean and contemporary appearance.
With a double rebate and friction stays on side-hung options, it does so without compromising on performance and weather tightness, also achieving a WER B rating and PAS24, clearing it for newbuild applications.
Again, it’s about flexibility of offer: we can support our customers in winning business regardless of the project or price point, through a single point of ordering and on a single delivery.
We chose the 58BW ST and 58BW Flush because as standalone products they deliver, but also because of the ‘fit’ within our offer as whole.
The launch of its new Aluk offer is built on a six-figure investment in our dedicated aluminium manufacturing capability.
This has included the addition of cutting-edge aluminium CNC technologies to our bifold lines including a top-of-the range Pertici mc 700 five-axis CNC with 7m working area with two working zones; plus two new Pertici 500 double-head cutting saws with a 6.1m cutting length.
Our approach is different. We aren’t adding aluminium lines to our manufacturing capability. We have a dedicated aluminium facility and are invested for growth.
The other important point is that our customers can place orders in exactly the same way as they do for PVCU products through Window Designer, getting an instant online quote and placing orders around the clock.
This is complemented by the additional efficiencies delivered by getting PVCU and aluminium orders on a single delivery: there’s no paperwork; you’re dealing with a single supplier; you don’t have to juggle deliveries alongside installations; and it’s a single invoice at the end of the month.
