The Stuga service

Stuga Machinery’s new head of aftersales, Nigel Hampson, explores the true cost of downtime, and why relying on reactive machinery support is a risk no fenestration business can afford. As manufacturers head to FIT Show 2025, Nigel highlights the critical question they should be asking: Why invest in machines alone, when aftersales support can ensure long-term success?

With just weeks to go to FIT Show, the Stuga team is looking forward to the opportunity to connect with the fenestration industry.

This year, our focus will be on more than just showcasing our machinery – we’ll also be emphasising the importance of aftersales support, and the lost output, missed deadlines, and lasting damage to customer relationships that can so easily be avoided with our tailored service contracts.

With the rise of smart technology and Industry 4.0, it’s clear that investing in service is just as crucial as investing in machines. On stand U60, we’ll be demonstrating how Stuga’s aftercare can help manufacturers improve the performance and lifespan of their equipment.

A risk you can’t afford

Relying on reactive, ad hoc support is an expensive gamble. Emergency callouts from fabricators with Stuga service contracts will always take priority – and Pay As You Go (PAYG) requests cannot receive the same level of urgent attention. This means hours and sometimes days of production are lost if we have limited availability, which is a worry we can alleviate from our service contract customers.

Our UK-wide team of highly trained Stuga and Stürtz engineers work alongside our service helpdesk, software and controls support team, and technical support team for mechanical and electrical issues, who can dial in to machines remotely and troubleshoot problems within minutes.

Unlike competitors who rely on third-party service providers or overseas support, Stuga customers benefit from fast, local expertise. Our in-house team ensures faster, more effective fixes, with the in-depth knowledge that comes from working solely on Stuga and Stürtz machines.

Maximising your investment

FIT Show is the perfect platform to educate fabricators on how they can truly maximise the ROI of Stuga and Stürtz machinery. The upfront cost of a machine is just one part of the equation, the real question is how well it is maintained. A high-performance cutting and machining centre is a serious investment, but without proper servicing, it’s not being protected.

Our service contracts remove the uncertainty and risk associated with reactive maintenance. With a structured, preventative approach, they include regular inspections, software updates, predictive maintenance, and priority response times – meaning that machinery runs at peak efficiency, reducing the likelihood of costly breakdowns before they happen.

Alongside showcasing our latest machinery innovations, one of the key reasons we are returning to FIT Show is to reinforce customer connections, harness insight and understand pain-points.

This is why Stuga will be holding a series of live Q&A sessions at FIT Show, giving fabricators the chance to discuss their real-world challenges with the team. These sessions will cut through the noise and focus on what manufacturers need most from their machinery and aftersales support. There is a lot of misinformation around service packages, and Stuga will demonstrate exactly how a structured, preventative maintenance plan can make a measurable difference to a fabricator’s bottom line.

For those looking to discuss their service needs in person, Stuga can be found at Stand U60 at FIT Show 2025. Attendees should make sure to join one of the Q&A sessions to see firsthand why investing in aftercare is just as important as investing in machinery.
