The S2 – a new era for SupaLite

SupaLite has introduced the long awaited S2 as its new glass conservatory roof system. We talk to sales director, Wes Clarkson, to find out more.

The S2 marks a new era for SupaLite which now supplies and manufactures a range of glazing extension products made predominantly of glass.

Whilst SupaLite is an experienced supplier of tiled and hybrid roof systems, the company says that the development of the S2 signals an exciting shift in the replacement roof market, providing more choice for ambitious installers.

The development of the S2 was inspired by a previously popular glazing extension roofing system, the K2. The K2 system benefitted from first-rate castings and extrusions that were powder coated to provide added weathering as well as greater visual appeal across a wide range of applications and climatic conditions.

Nevertheless, its positive influence was short-lived, and according to SupaLite, it left installers without a first-rate option for a glass conservatory roof.

Identifying a clear gap in the market, SupaLite chose to partner with leading aluminium extruder, Garnalex, to introduce something new. This, in conjunction with customers repeatedly requesting SupaLite to supply a glass conservatory roof, prompted SupaLite to diversify its range of glazing extension products and respond to the growing demand.

As such, Garnalex embarked on three years of exhaustive product development, and, with support from SupaLite, what eventually followed was the long-awaited introduction of the S2 conservatory roof.

Due to a combined wealth of industry experience, ‘innovation’, ‘efficiency’, and ‘sustainability’ are said to be the three key pillars of the S2’s design.

Complete with a selection of multi-chambered PVC-U or aluminium top caps exclusive to Garnalex roofs, the S2 offers an upgraded conservatory experience thanks to its enhanced ventilation and unique flush low-line appearance.

In addition to this, the emphasis on aesthetics is a marked development of the S2. Without compromising any technical advantages, the S2 exists as a modern contemporary roofing system due to the squared cappings across the roof and trims.

The option to add high-quality finials and crestings is also available to homeowners looking for a more traditional finish – offering versatility that was previously unavailable with the original K2 roofing system.

The incredible strong ‘box’ eaves beam affords homeowners the option to include panoramic doors that open to the surrounding landscape and accommodate conservatory pitches from as low as 2.50  to a steep 37.50.

In doing so, the S2 can be easily tailored to suit the needs and unique design choices of the homeowner – fantastic news for ambitious installers who are looking to widen their own offering to homeowners across the UK.

Commenting on the introduction of the S2, SupaLite’s sales director, Wes Clarkson, said: “The S2 has exceeded our expectations here at SupaLite. Thanks to Garnalex, what started as a remodel of the K2 Conservatory roofing system quickly developed into the creation of a conservatory roof that will no doubt be recognised as a leading product in the glazing extension market.

“As we prioritise customer feedback, we wanted to act upon requests to offer both glass and tiled conservatory roof replacement products. Knowing our customers value our services so highly encouraged us to explore this new avenue; the absence of the K2 prompting us to address the demand for its replacement without neglecting our commitment to quality service and customers.

“Having started to supply successful glass extension products, such as the S1 roof lanterns and SkyVista glass panel features, developing a complete conservatory roof system seemed the next natural step. In doing so, we’re able to provide installers with an alternative roof option,” continued Wes.

“Our operations team has been working hard to refurbish a retired warehouse facility into a modern roof manufacturing plant dedicated to the S2 and additional glass glazing extension products.

“Thanks to this expansion, our capacity to now offer high end orangeries, complicated T-shapes and simple lean-to’s all from one system allows us to continue manufacturing exceptional quality glazing extension products without any obstacles. The S2 has impressively launched us into the next phase of our 2023 growth strategy,” he concluded.

“We are beyond excited to see where this new chapter in conservatory roofing will take us and thrilled to see that the initial launch of the S2 has been so well received.”

SupaLite first introduced the anticipated S2 at this year’s FIT show. Based at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, the team presented the S2 as the feature of their stand.

For those who were unable to visit the FIT Show in May, the SupaLite team are expected to deliver a series of seminars throughout the UK from August to provide installers an opportunity to see the S2 up close and personal and ask the team questions face-to-face – a testament to SupaLite’s commitment to quality customer service.
