Deceuninck MD Rob McGlennon announces the new sculptured sash option for the Slider24+, and explains why it is a product that keeps on giving.

As the UK emerged from a series of pandemic-related lockdowns, a shift in homeowner behaviour resulted in a change in buying habits.

As a result, people now spend more time at home; households now socialise, study, work and relax alongside each other in the same space rather than going out. This has been fuelled in part by flexible home-working becoming the norm – or, at least, widely accepted.

Homes that were primarily designed for those bits in between – the sleeping and the eating – were suddenly out-dated and required an upgrade.

Top of the list was the need to open-up the space and introduce more light to the interior. While bi-folding doors took centre-stage in recent years, for most homes they are impractical; a large bi-fold may be a statement piece for some larger homes with the space to accommodate them, but many properties don’t have the room to stack the leaves.

“The popularity of sliding patio doors has never really diminished,” Deceuninck’s MD, Rob McGlennon, says. “Bi-folding doors re-ignited the interest in ‘bringing the outside in’ but we’ve never seen sales of our Slider24+ drop. In fact, we have had customers start fabricating the Slider24+ because demand has been so high.”

The success of Deceuninck’s Slider24+ has been, in part, thanks to its ongoing development, and keeping it relevant for modern household renovations.

“The mistake many companies made as bi-folding doors gained popularity was to ignore their sliding door option,” Rob says. “Our fabricators continually tell us that sliders remain popular with installation companies and homeowners, so we have continually upgraded the Slider24+ to keep it fresh and up to date.

“For example, we have added a new sculptured sash option, which means the Slider24+ now offers a perfect match to our Heritage Window Collection and the 2800 system.

“The popularity of our Heritage Window Collection in particular has increased incredibly in recent years, driven by a shift in demand to high value products. People turn to Deceuninck because we have 30+ colourways from stock, which means that not only can we achieve the required aesthetics, but we can meet the timescales too.”

The Slider24+ also has leading security credentials, is exceptionally energy efficient, and can boast market leading weather performance, all of which provides an attractive modern upgrade. Something, Rob says, not all systems companies can claim.

“Homeowners love sliding patio doors, but only if they meet their high expectations,” Rob says. “Our Slider24+ patio is now certified to PAS24:2016 enhanced security for two, three and four panes, and it comes with a 12-point locking mechanism and an ERA total security guarantee.

“Thanks to its high-quality hardware, it can be manufactured to a maximum width of 5.9m while maintaining its good looks and market-leading performance.”

The Slider24+ is also Part Q security and Part M mobility compliant, and can achieve a Window Energy Rating of A+ double glazed, nipping any concerns about compliance in the bud.

“While we have continually upgraded our sliding door option, supplying a class-leading sliding door is only one part of the challenge,” Rob concludes. “With the Slider24+, we are not simply filling a gap in the market. We are providing an aspirational product which, thanks in part to our market-leading colour offer, builds margin into every sale, while helping to keep lead times to a minimum.”
