Colour trends for 2025

We’ve asked five leading figures from prestigious companies across the supply chain for their opinions on the growth of colour in 2024 and their top tips for next year.
As another colourful year draws to a close, it’s always interesting to reflect on the trends that dominated the past 12 months and what some of the major brands are backing for the next, and think about how these might influence our own industry.
Pantone’s Colour of the Year is always particularly eagerly anticipated. This year’s Peach Fuzz, a ‘delightful blend of pink and orange’, has been replaced by Future Dusk for 2025, ‘a dark, moody, and intriguing hue, sitting between blue and purple’.
Sweet Embrace, ‘a gentle blossom pink’, was Dulux’s choice for 2024, and they’ve opted for True Joy for next year, a ‘positive and uplifting yellow’.
Other prestigious paint brands to announce a Colour of the Year for 2025 include Valspar with Encore 8002 45-G, ‘a deep blue hue’, Behr Paint with Rumors, ‘a deep, dynamic ruby red’, and Graham & Brown with Elderton, ‘a rich, neutral-toned brown’.
Safe to say that the theme of subtlety for 2024 has started to shift to stronger, more striking colours for next year.
Consumer demand and an ever-increasing choice of attractive foiled and painted finishes becoming available means that colour is also dominating the windows and doors markets.
So what’s been hot this year in our sector? And what can we expect for 2025? We’ve asked five leading figures from prestigious companies across the supply chain for their opinions…
Guy Hubble, Joint Managing Director at RegaLead
How colourful has your year been?
We’ve seen a huge diversification over the past 12 months, supplying more than 1,000 different colours!
When it comes to windows, Anthracite continues to dominate and is still by far the best selling colour. But that is now changing rapidly and softer greys, such as Agate and Pebble Grey, are rising in popularity, while black has made a big resurgence.
This time last year, we predicted that lilac would be a top trend for doors in 2024, and we’ve since seen that come to fruition. Bold colours have certainly been the choice for contemporary-styled doors with Contemporary Coral, Miami Sky and Stormy Seas proving popular. Whereas more muted hues, such as Cotswold and Lawn Grey in demand for heritage doors.
What are your colour tips for 2025?
Windows: For windows, ‘greiges’ are definitely going to continue to increase in popularity. I would predict that the likes of Claystone and Agate are going to be the colours of choice.
Doors: As for doors, I think that bold colours will continue to rule supreme. Diablo and will still be a top choice, along with Hot Mustard and Lilacs/Pinks, but I foresee a particular swing towards traditional blues, such as Ink and French Blue.

Anthracite grey is less popular now, with notable preferences for softer tones like Pebble and Silk Grey. Jet Black rather than the Renoilit Black/Brown has increased for Kolorseal this year. Farrow and Ball colours, including Old White, Hardwick White and Pigeon, are always popular.
Kolorseal has seen Black door colour coating escalate throughout 2024. Pastel, muted blues, pinks, and violet tones have surged too. Bold colours evidently still have their place, especially in RAL’s colour range.
With regards to fascias, soffits and gutters, creating matching, overall exterior appearances is trending with people requesting rainwater and roofline products, particularly in the ever-popular Farrow & Ball colours and RAL 1019.
What are your colour tips for 2025?
Windows: For me, 2025 will see bespoke colour become the new ‘essential’ when it comes to house design. Softer RAL tones and Farrow & Ball muted colours will definitely be more popular for windows.
Doors: I believe extensive use of Grey will continue but in softer tones as people become adventurous with door colour choices. Soft Blues, including RAL 220 80 15 and Beige/Grey tones, could see a leap in popularity.

How colourful has your year been?
A varied colour offering has always been a cornerstone of our product range, allowing consumers to express their personality and differentiate their property through their front door.
In 2024 we saw bolder colours emerge in our customer choices and colour matching the door and frame has become an increasingly popular option.
Having our own paint facility has allowed us to develop our business around this growing requirement, giving our customers and the homeowners the door they really want. Our factory floor is literally a spectrum of colour!
What are your colour tips for 2025?
Doors: We envisage that moody and deep colours, (dark greens, blues and purples), will continue their growth as consumers see more and more examples on social media, giving them the courage to choose these striking finishes and to express some personality into the external façade of their property. No doubt shades of grey will continue to feature as a popular choice for those who are more conservative.

How colourful has your year been?
With thousands of colour combinations ordered in 2024, we’ve seen every colour under the sun coming through our paint line with more bright, vibrant choices than ever before.
Anthracite Grey, Black, Agate Grey and White still top our list, but Chartwell and Slate have seen a further surge in popularity this year. Deep moody purples like Very Berry and Mulberry have climbed into the top 50, along with trendy Dusky Pink, but blues and greys still dominate.
Our showstopper colours of the year have been fiery Diablo, smooth Shadow and energetic Stormy Seas, with the three shades really standing out against the crowd.
What are your colour tips for 2025?
Doors: When it comes to Doors in 2025, we’re predicting that Sage is going to rise even more in popularity and may begin to rival Chartwell. We’re also expecting to see an increase in orders of doors in warm, vibrant citrus hues like Florida and Citrine. We are also expecting Alaskan Birch to continue towards challenging the stained colours norm.

Demand for colour shows no sign of slowing down. The past 10 years has seen a shift towards solid colours which are now over 80% of the total market for foil. Anthracite Grey accounts for around 40%, with Black Brown around 20%.
It’s not just about colour. The UK market is now beginning to adopt smooth/matt textures with low gloss finishes that are amongst the fastest growing in Europe.
For woodgrains, the classic Golden Oak and Black Cherry are the most popular, but new ‘Super-Matt’ effects from Renolit have started to gain market share in the second half of the year and could herald the beginning of a shift back to a wood finish.
What are your colour tips for 2025?
Solid colours will continue to dominate. The recently developed True Black should continue to grow, alongside warm, neutral shades like Sage, Agate Grey and Pebble Grey.
Windows: Pebble Grey and Agate Grey will continue their growth whilst smooth/matt textures will gain in popularity over the traditional wood tick.
Doors: I believe the market will move to strong colour tones in shades of blue and green.
So there you have it. As 2024 wraps up, it looks like the colour trends in the home exterior market are moving towards bolder and more vibrant hues. While it seems that classic greys and softer tones will remain popular, there will be a growing demand for deep blues, greens, and rich textures.
Pantone and Dulux have set the stage for 2025 with bold shades like ‘Future Dusk’ and ‘True Joy,’ and industry leaders predict an increasing focus on customisation, matte finishes, and expressive, unique colour choices.
