A game changer in the industry

The Residence Collection launched its new timber alternative PVC door range at the FIT Show, generating fresh opportunities for fabricators and installers in the heritage sector.
The Residence Collection officially launched its long-awaited timber alternative open-in entrance door at the 2025 FIT Show, further cementing its reputation as an innovator in the window and door market.
The exciting addition to the Residence Collection lineup offers a stunning blend of traditional aesthetics and modern material performance, addressing the evolving needs of installers, fabricators and homeowners.
One of the standout features of this new entrance door is the fact that it’s crafted from PVC, rather than composite materials – a choice which offers a key point of differentiation and aligns with the recent PVC door developments that have reinvigorated the sector.
With this move, The Residence Collection ensures that its new door is durable, cost-effective and efficient, while still offering the aesthetic appeal of timber.
A true timber alternative
While many doors on the market try to mimic timber, The Residence Collection has taken it one step further with a patented decorative trim that cleverly hides the PVC gasket line around the panels. This innovation adds an authentic timber look, making the door a true alternative to traditional wooden doors.
The inclusion of a large mid-rail, a stackable deep bottom rail and a range of matching foiled panels all contribute to a timeless, timber appearance.
These design features were developed with meticulous attention to the details, making the door a highly convincing timber alternative for homeowners seeking a classic aesthetic but without the maintenance headaches of wood.
Design flexibility
Another major advantage of the new open-in door is the enhanced design flexibility it offers fabricators. Unlike composite doors, which often have limited size and configuration options, this PVC door can be tailored to a wide range of needs.
With sash sizes available up to 900mm wide and 2,300mm high, fabricators can easily accommodate varying door sizes and styles, including the needs of heritage properties that may have unique dimensions.
For example, many period homes with unusual door sizes often struggle to upgrade to newer, more modern doors, but with The Residence Collection’s new design, this is now possible.
The door’s chamfered sash profile matches perfectly with the company’s existing open-out doors and window sashes, ensuring a seamless and cohesive look across any property. The introduction of bespoke features, such as a 130mm mid-rail for a full-sized letterbox or the deep bottom rail can be used with the existing open-out French doors, which further enhances the potential.
A seamless aesthetic
The new range maintains a strong focus on consistent, high-quality aesthetics. When paired with the Residence 7 frame, the door achieves a truly flush appearance, both inside and out. The result is a door that not only meets functional needs but also elevates the overall design of the space and gives homeowners that polished, unified look for their home exterior.
The design features also make the door incredibly user-friendly for fabricators. For instance, the deep bottom rail includes a positive click engagement for easy and secure fabrication, while the patented decorative trim ensures an effortless, aesthetically pleasing installation.
Panels for the new door system have been tested with both Regalead and Hurst for compatibility and finish quality. Regalead’s Urban Engineered Door Components have invested in the full Residence Collection colour range to perfectly match Residence foils.
A patented surround trim conceals the gasket line and offers a moulded, timber-like finish. 44mm panel options are available with raised and fielded (one side), or raised and fielded (both sides) design – all with the patented surround trim.
Versatility for every home
The Residence Collection’s new entrance door range is truly versatile. Available in a range of over 11 colours, including new shades, Turner Oak and Pebble Grey, providing homeowners with more design options.
Additionally, the door range is fully compatible with various glazing options, including 28mm double or 44mm triple glazing, to further enhance its energy efficiency and performance.
Another key feature of the new range is its accessibility. The door is available with a low aluminium threshold, making it ideal for projects that require wheelchair access. The option of a full-frame is available for Residence2 also ensures that the door is as accessible as it is adaptable, meeting the needs of diverse homes and lifestyles.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the new door range is engineered for high performance. Offering PAS 24 compliant styles, the doors have been tested to meet the BS6375 standard for weather resistance, strength, and overall performance. This focus on durability means the door not only looks great but also provides security, protection, and energy efficiency..
New door designer
The Residence Collection has also launched a brand-new door designer, which offers an easy and interactive way for homeowners to design their perfect door. This online tool allows users to select everything from frame style to colours, glazing hardware, and even beading options.
The designer generates a clear summary of the door’s components, making the specification process smoother and more efficient. For installers and fabricators this tool ensures greater clarity and helps provide comprehensive specifications for every order.
Jo Trotman, marketing manager at The Residence Collection, commented: “Our new timber alternative door range represents a significant leap forward in both design and functionality. With a PVC-U construction that mimics the best qualities of timber, accessibility, flexibility, great design options, and a host of bespoke features, this door range is well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of the market.
“By offering customisation, performance and authenticity, the new door truly completes The Residence Collection’s portfolio, making it the perfect choice for a variety of projects and properties.
