Dig deep
Glass Times editor Nathan Bushell explains how you can help support a deserving charity while giving yourself 10 chances to win a fantastic prize.
One sector that has reportedly suffered more than most during the recent coronavirus pandemic and ensuing lockdown is the charity sector.
For many organisations that rely on regular interactions with the general public – think about your favourite charity shop – income has dried up, which has had a significant impact on the services they can provide.
Even those charities with a more organised and target-driven approach to generating revenue have had the rug pulled from under them, with major events like the London Marathon cancelled this year.
The glass and glazing industry’s de facto adopted charity, GM Fundraising, has had its wings severely clipped this year with plans to raise £200 million for Hope House Hospices sent into disarray. Many GM Fundraising events have had to be put on hold, including the all-women Peak, Paddle, Pedal in August, which would have seen the team climb Snowdon, canoe the length of the River Severn (150 miles) and cycle the 150 miles back to Hope House in Oswestry.
Therefore, Glass Times wants to help.
This year’s Glass Times Race Day, one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the glass and glazing calendar, has also had to be put on hold. As part of that glorious day, we usually hold a raffle, with all proceeds going to charity.
So, we thought, why don’t we hold the raffle anyway?
Thanks to nine wonderful friends of the magazine – Balls2 Marketing, Selecta Systems, Edgetech, Business Micros, Central RPL, Georgian Bar, Quickslide, Epwin Group and Supalite – we have ten prizes to give away.
For just £5 a ticket, you will be in with a chance of winning: a gin hamper; one of two Fortnum and Mason hampers; a Smart Ready HD LED TV; a signed Denis Law photo montage; and Amazon Echo; a Nutribullet; a round of golf for four; and six bottles of wine.
Glass Times is also giving away a table for ten at one of next year’s Race Days.
Take part in the raffle here, and all proceeds will go GM Fundraising.
