“The S -100 door is too good for the money and as soon as a consumer sees and operates one, they disregard composites, virtually every time,” says Rob Bignall at Teamframes Trade.

The Spitfire team is said to have spent two years researching European manufacturers, to be able to introduce an entry-level aluminium door that is worthy of being called a Spitfire Door.

The new S-100 Series of Spitfire Doors can be specified up to 1,200mm wide and 2,400mm high, plus sidelights and toplights. This is to satisfy the trend in new build, where developers want bigger doors, or want to do with away with ugly and bulky PVC-U sidelights.

Fit and forget

According to Spitfire Doors, trade customers want an aluminium front door that is easy to order and can compete price-wise with composite GRP and PVC doors. The company adds that  S-100 is ‘fit and forget’ because it is immensely strong; so PAS24 security, ease of installation and energy efficiency are givens. The 40 designs are either traditional or contemporary and the price/performance ratio is said to be ‘unbeatable’.

Thermal excellence

Spitfire S-100 aluminium front doors easily qualify for Passive House, as all solid door designs are below than 0.8 W/m²K. Triple glazed safety glass units are standard of course.
