Roof-Maker has launched a fully opening option for its Slimline roof lantern.
According to Roof-Maker, the Slimline roof lantern features the slimmest glazing profiles on the market to give a frameless effect with its minimal glazing bars blending into the IGU seals.
Fully opening (300mm height) along the entire length of the lantern side, the new product has been designed to provide trouble free ventilation to rooms on hot summer days without the clutter of roof vents and additional glazing bars, leaving a clean and minimal aesthetic.
Manufactured by Roof-Maker in Leicester the company has been producing the Slimline roof lantern since 2011 constantly evolving and developing the system over a 15-year period.
Utilising the company’s very own Reflex glass stepped units that feature a 20-year unit seal warranty with a life expectancy of 30 years, there are said to be thousands of Slimline roof lanterns fitted in the UK.
“We were pioneers in bringing to market a minimal and uncomplicated looking roof lantern that worked well for smaller sizes, with more sky and less roof as the original design concept,” said Scott Nicholas, managing director and original co-founder of the business.
“We filled a gap in the market where every other roof system uses (and still does) chunky glazing bars that look very out of scale on smaller roof lanterns and just blocked up to 30% of the natural light. We invented something completely different and came up with a hybrid system that uses both structural adhesive and thermally broken aluminium profiles to give a glazing system that is the exact size of the IGU seals….tens of thousands have now been sold.”
Roof-Maker has reportedly sold over £150million worth of rooflight products into the UK domestic home improvement market since it was founded in 2001. Last year the business moved into its own custom-built factory on a three-acre site with over 60,000ft2 of manufacturing and warehouse capacity.
The company is now offering this time proven roof system with fully integrated and synchronised 700N 24V DC chain actuators.
Available in the company’s original satin black powder coating finish or slate grey or any specialist RAL colour for an additional cost. Hinged Slimline roof lanterns have been developed using Roof-Makers own composite wood, plastic extrusion to form a 60mm thermal break within the aluminium kerb frame that houses the electric motors.
The system comes with rain sensors as standard to automatically close the roof when rain is detected and a wall mounted digital multi-channel remote control that allow up to 15 rooflights (including the company’s own blackout blind system) to be operated from one control unit.
