A very open house

Glass Times editor Nathan Bushell has a look around Aluk’s new facility in Chepstow.

Today, Aluk is showing a handful of trade editors around the new facility in Chepstow – all 350,000ft2 of it – that houses manufacture, painting, warehouse, training rooms, research and development, and other office functions.

It is a mammoth place, and one that is a real statement of intent from the aluminium systems supplier. Managing director Russell Yates said the process has taken five years, and should help the company in its planned growth despite the less certain market conditions.

“We understand that the market for aluminium is only 7% [in the fenestration industry],” he said, “but the drive and potential for growth is huge.”

The report on how fabricators will benefit will be in the November issue of a Glass Times.
