While composite doors are the most popular type of entrance door in the UK, customers still need to choose with care, according to But Nathan Barr, managing director of ODL Europe.

“Composite doors provide the level of performance homeowners are looking for,” Nathan said. “But if you want customers who are still delighted with you and your work years after the job completed, you need to choose your composite door range with care.”

The new Capstone SecureDesign Door Slab features a high-density polyurethane foam core that has been designed to reduce possible foam voids, bulging and uneven surfaces, Nathan said. “The use of polypropylene eliminates water absorption, so the doors will not bulge or rot, even if water intrudes through openings from seals failing on glass or letterplates.

The SecureDesign boards are injection moulded to the specific design, and the woodgrain is taken from real oak woodgrain with the stain being applied by hand.

The SecureDesign door slab is built into the door so it’s an integral part of the door core, rather than ‘floating’ in it, and the improved foam flowability creates fewer areas of vulnerability.

“Overall, the Capstone SecureDesign Door Slab easily passes the cut through test and more than meets the requirements of PAS 24:2016,” Nathan said.
