The founder and director of Cumbernauld-based Cube Glass, Gary Thorn, has come out top of the latest Building for Growth Programme course organised by hub South West.
Gary, who started Cube Glass in 2013 and which now has annual sales of £2.5 million, was marked by a panel of construction sector judges against his fellow course participants on a series of business attributes including leadership, strategic planning, marketing, business analysis and pitching for business.
The judges praised Gary’s passion for running the business and for taking his team, comprising 12 permanent and 15 contractors, along with him.
Cube Glass designs, supplies and installs a variety of products in aluminium and glass including windows, bifolding doors, sliding doors, curtain walling, balconies, glazed roofs and internal glazed partitions.
Gary said: “I was genuinely amazed to be judged best performer at the hub South West Award Event, especially since the overall standard of company presentations by my fellow participants on the programme seemed to me to be very high.”
A public-private partnership funded by Scotland’s business development agencies and a clutch of Tier One contractors including Morisons, Graham, Morgan Sindall and Keir, hub South West’s development programme is aimed at ambitious companies in construction and related sectors based in Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
