Seven figure investment

Exlabesa Extrusions has invested in a £35 million extrusion press for its Doncaster factory.

Fernando Quinta, director at Exlabesa Extrusions Doncaster, said: “This investment will enable us to upgrade our plant and continue to deliver the outstanding quality our growing customer base relies on.”

Exlabesa Extrusions’ new extrusion press, which is from SMS group, will be used primarily to extrude profiles for automotive, architectural and industrial applications.

Start-stop technology will ensure average energy savings of 10%, compared to modern presses without similar technology.

“Energy efficiency is good for the business and good for the planet,” Fernando said. “We’re proud to have invested in machinery that will enable us to reduce consumption intelligently.”

As well as improving energy efficiency, the press will also improve quality thanks to a feature that will lower the risk of air inclusions in the extruded profile.

Commissioning of the extrusion press is planned for the beginning of 2019.
